Our baby is almost one!

I wanted to spend a few minutes and put into writing all of the wonderful things we love about Autumn. She'll be one on Saturday and I can't believe how fast this year has gone... We seriously love our little chunky monkey, and this past year has been the best of my life. So here are some reasons why:

-She makes you work before she rewards you with a smile or chuckle, so when she does it melts your heart.
-She loves her Daddy the most, when he goes to work on Monday morning she walks around the house yelling DA DA DA and looking in all of the rooms.
-She is a wonderful eater with a HUGE appetite!
-She had always slept so wonderfully.
-She travels really well, which is great for our many road trips down south.
-She is so smart and loves books more than any other toys. We can sit and read together for 45 minutes if I find enough books.
-The dog is her very best friend.
-She talks a bunch, Dog, Balloon, Ball, No, Mom, Dad, Up, What is it?, Milk, Cup, Get it, Cracker, Cute, Pretty, Uh-Oh, Hi! Baby, Bye... and more I can't think of right now.
-Her hair is darling in pigtails.
-She loves shoes (just like her mom). She has a basket in her room and she will pull out one at a time and try to put them on. I'm finding single shoes all over the house. She has also started this with the clothes in her drawer.
-Her song repertoire is quite impressive. She has actions for Popcorn Popping, Once there was a Snowman, Wheels on the Bus, I'm a Little Teapot, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Pat-a-cake, Head Shoulder Knees and Toes, 5 Little Ducks, and more. Singing is her favorite after reading.
-Her blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair is the most beautiful sight.
-I am always greeted with a smile and a big HI when I walk in to get her each morning.
-Overall she is just a bright, empowered little person. She is strong willed and as individual as they come. Always independent and happy to be learning and exploring. I just feel lucky when she wants to let me be a part.

Happy Birthday Autumn!! We love you so much!

Bryce Canyon

This year for our Cowan family adventure, we headed down to Bryce Canyon. We had a blast and fit a bunch in to a small amount of time. We drove down on Thursday and Autumn was so good! She travels really well and the drive went pretty quickly. Friday morning I went on a bike ride with my brothers and Dad. I am the weakest link and had to head back sooner than everybody else.

Friday afternoon we all headed out to hike Calf Creek falls. I've probably done this hike 5 or 6 times, but it is always beautiful. Autumn did great on the hike as well. She even napped in her snuggli back pack thing on the way back. Saturday morning, the atheletes ran the 5 mile Bryce Canyon Rim Run. I was so impressed with the runners! It was Todd's first race ever, and he did so well! His goal was to finish in less than an hour and he did. I think his final time was like 56:42 or something. Anyways, he finished under an hour and I am glad he ran!

We took another little hike on Saturday afternoon, but Autumn and I didn't stay up to Mossy cave or the waterfall too long, it was nap time. That night, we got to go to the Rodeo at Ruby's Inn and watch my cute nephews ride sheep. Autumn loved the horses and I got to put her on one for the first time.

My camera is dead so my pictures will come later. These are pics I stole from Natalie, our family photographer. haha. Thanks, Nat!

Sunday we headed to the Cedar to spend a day with Todd's family and visit some friends. Overall, it was an amazing weekend and it was great to get away and spend some time with family.

Autumn's Walking... and other select videos.

So I took a video of Autumn crawling for the first time on Thursday, just to have it trumped by a video of her walking on Sunday! She has been determined to walk since about 6 months and we thought she might skip crawling all together. Well, she crawled for a few days, and now she just only crawls to places where she can pull herself up and walk. haha! So here are some of her first real steps on her own...

I am getting ready for church Sunday morning when I hear the radio blasting from the kitchen. I walk in and see this. Apparently she managed to walk into the kitchen while Todd was reading the Ensign and turned on the stereo all by herself. Todd ran in and she was holding on the the bookcase and dancing her little heart out.

Welcome to mealtimes at our house. I don't know who begs worse, the dog or the baby. This video cracks me up every time.

If you read our blog and you don't have your name on our friends and family list to the right, please leave me a comment with your blog page! I want to read your blogs too!! Let's not keep this a one sided relationship...

8 months old and a tribute to Elaine!

So little Autumn is 8 months old today. Weird. She is so smart and happy! I am sure my next post will be about her walking... We'll see. We just love her and her little attitude.

I also wanted to send a shout out to my dear friend Elaine. She stayed with us for about a month and a half and we loved having her! She was a huge help around the house and with Autumn. I had to re-learn how to be a mom when she left. She always helped me remember things when I left the house, etc. Anyways, she is awesome and we miss her a ton. Here are some pictures we took when a farewell BBQ at my mom's house. We Love you Elaine!!!

reasons we think Autumn is fantastic

So I need to post some new pictures... but I don't have the ones I want to put up right now, so you just get to read this and wait for pictures later. I have been wanting to do this little post for a while but haven't taken the time. Todd is upstairs studying for his CPA test and Autumn is sleeping so I couldn't think of a better time than now. Here is a little list of Autumn's latest accomplishments and other reasons why she is so great.

-She sleeps through the night, every night. From like 9pm to 7:30 or 8am.
-She is eating a ton of regular food, and especially loves Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Squash, and everything fruit (mangoes are a favorite). She still doesn't love green veggies so much.
-She has started to self feed, and munches her little heart away on the little cereal crunchies.
-She loves the dog more than pretty much anybody else.
-Bathtime is a nightly hit.
-She is sitting up so great and has started to pull herself up on whatever is close enough to grab.
-She hasn't even started to think about crawling yet.
She waves bye-bye, claps her hands, and babbles with her hands in her mouth to make super cute noises.
-She does this cute snorty laugh with her eyes closed. This one has brought me to tears in laughter a few times. I am not sure I have ever seen anything cuter!
-She loves music and has started to sing along when I am singing to her.
-Every time I pull out a book to read with her, she gets a huge smile on her face and then giggles when I open the first page.

Overall Autumn is just so sweet and bright. I can't describe her personality without thinking about how bright and full of happiness and life she is. We are so blessed and love her so much!!! She is such a little princess!

Talkity talk

Autumn has started to babble like crazy just the past few days. Last Friday was the first real Ma Ma, and was quickly joined by Da, Ba, Na, and Ya... It is so fun to watch our little girl learn and grow!! I tried about ten times to catch her babbling but every time the camera came out she shut right up. She said her real first MaMaMa on Saturday, so I counted that as a Mother's Day present. It was so sweet! Now all she really says is DaDa, hopefully MaMa will come back soon!

Autumn's nursery

Well it is still not completely finished, but I did get a lot done since moving in to our new house. I thought I would post a few pictures of her new nursery and especially point out her beautiful crib set that her grandma Jackie sewed for her. I love it so much! Get ready for tons of pink!

P.S. Although only a few of you actually posted on the previous blog, I received about 5 phone calls and had some good chats with a lot of you. Thanks for the advice. It's night number 3 and Autumn went down tonight, no contest. Now we just see if she can stay asleep.
